Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test on a variety of factors that affect the performance of SMEs in Banyumas Regency Coconut Sugar. The development of economic activities in Indonesia especially in today's business is strongly supported by micro small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which was instrumental in enhancing the welfare of rural communities and improve the lives of rural communities. This study aims to determine the various factors that can affect the performance of Micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for both internal factors and external factors on SMEs palm sugar in Banyumas district. It is expected to know the factors that affect the performance of SME's business owners can prepare themselves for the competition in the business world and can improve their business performance. Business performance of SMEs can be seen from their earnings growth, capital growth, sales growth and labor force growth. The research was conducted by survey method, the data obtained by questionnaires and interviews with brown sugar business owners in the district of Banyumas. Analysis of experimental data was analyzed with descriptive statistics and srutuctural equation modeling (SEM) using AMOS 4.01 program and SPSS for windows. Observations showed that the sample of 160 respondents on average have a low education level of junior high and high school were 98 respondents were 62 respondents. With an age level of 40 105 respondents and an age to 60 years by 55 respondents. From interviews and questionnaires to all respondents on average said that internal factors that affect the performance of SMEs over to the HR, production and marketing of its products. As for external factors that determine the performance of SMEs among other socio-economic factors, technology and the role of institutions. The success rate of the business activities of SMEs, among others, determined by the success of the increased capital, increasing profits and increasing market growth.
