Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the accounting ability, particularly in
financial management, preparation of financial statements, and capital planning
and management, of the cooperative and MSME’s management/businessmen in
Bogor City. Cooperatives and MSMEs in Bogor were the object of this study. A
quantitatively descriptive approach was used. Sampling was done by using a
purposive sampling and simple random sampling method. A total of 163
cooperatives and 379 SMEs were selected as samples. Data were analysed by
using the multiple linear regression. Results showed that there was a
simultaneous and partial effect of cooperative accounting and capital planning on
the success of the empowerment of cooperatives in Bogor. As for the MSME
entrepreneurs, it was found that many of them still did not understand how to
create financial statements and to make good capital planning. Therefore, a
sustainable empowerment from the government institutions through trainings,
mentoring, and capital assistance was required.
