PERANAN WILAYAH AGROEKOLOGI DALAM MENINGKATKAN PENDAPATAN PETERNAK SAPI POTONG DI KABUPATEN BANJARNEGARA, PROPINSI JAWA TENGAH

Abstract

Beef cattle farming have become a priority commodity of Local Government Unit (LGU) of Banjarnegara in alleviating poverty and developing rural economy. Management of beef cattle cannot be separated from the availability of production inputs, especially feed, human resources, and other infrastructures. Agro ecology zone provide production inputs that vary in quality and quantity. This study aims to analyze the economic performance of beef cattle farming at different level of agro ecology zone in Banjarnegara. The study involved 215 respondents from 3 different agro ecology zone (low land, medium and high land) explains that there is significant difference in income at different agro ecology zone (P <0.05). Income of fattening type of beef cattle farmers in high land (>1000 m) showed a relatively higher than other regions. Economic development in the high land region in Banjarnegara can be improved by introducing beef cattle agribusiness.
