PENDIDIKAN TINGGI INDONESIA MENGHADAPI TANTANGAN REVOLUSI INDUSTRI KE-EMPAT

Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is in our midst. It brings with it various impacts on our lives, on industry and also on our higher education. This article attempts to analyse the challenges it brings to higher education in Indonesia. By using and analyzing the ranking of Indonesian higher education institutions (HEIs) and observations on various aspects of Indonesian HEIs, we conclude that there are six primary or even revolutionary changes that need to be undertaken by Indonesian HEIs in order to survive the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These are revolutions in attitudes, general and academic interests, teaching and learning, curricula, professional development and higher education leadership. However, these are not sufficient to sustain the HEIs without implementing continuous improvement.
